DANIEL SMITH Serpentine Genuine, a PrimaTek Watercolor

Serpentine Genuine Watercolor by DANIEL SMITH with Serpentine mineral

Our DANIEL SMITH Serpentine Genuine, Extra Fine Watercolor is part of our PrimaTek Watercolor line, which are paints made from minerals.

We make our Serpentine Genuine Watercolor and Watercolor Stick from the Serpentine mineral we import from Australia.  This particular Serpentine mineral variety is an exceptionally beautiful soft green with lavender Stichtite (a purple mineral) inclusions.  Once we have ground the Serpentine and removed the unneeded minerals, like the Stichtite, from the matrix, we have our mineral pigment ready for making our Serpentine Genuine Watercolor.

This surprisingly semi-transparent paint is a beautiful, granulating green which in washes allows specks of pale burnt scarlet particles to settle out.  These particles add unusual warmth and interest to your landscape and floral paintings.  Our Serpentine Genuine is a warm, vigorous green wonderful for painting green apples, young foliage, meadow greens and other sunlit landscapes and leaves.

You can see in the video, how beautifully our DANIEL SMITH Serpentine Genuine paints out.

Serpentine Genuine, Extra Fine Watercolor is made for Artists, and has these properties:

  • *  ASTM Lightfastness Rating: Excellent
  • *  Transparency: Semi-Transparent
  • *  Staining: Non-staining
  • *  Granulating: Yes

That’s Serpentine Genuine, part of the PrimaTek Watercolor collection by DANIEL SMITH!

  1. We bring you an unusually beautiful Serpentine pigment from the land down under. This Australian green-color serpentine is of a variety called Stichtite. A soft stone used cross-culturally for carving amulets used to ward off harm, our newest PrimaTek® has no comparison in any known paint palette. This surprising semi-transparent paint is a good green that develops granulating with specks of burnt scarlet-a great addition to your landscape and floral palette.
